Job description

The post holder will be a highly specialist resource providing clinical expertise in care, advice and support for patients requiring enteral feeding devices (gastrostomy and jejunal). The post holder will provide nursing leadership and work within the multi-disciplinary team in order to provide a seamless, coordinated approach to person-centered care, across the clinical pathway, and timely onward referral to other professionals and agencies as appropriate. The post holder will lead in the provision of expert advice in developing, implementing and monitoring policies, procedures and protocols, which meet national, regional and local requirements. They will proactively advance the modernisation agenda of the gastrostomy service for patients and the development of the nursing service to achieve patient centered care. The post holder will be responsible for the management of a defined caseload of children with gastrostomy and jejunal devices, providing education, specialist nursing skills, knowledge and expertise to the family.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• Be a registered nurse on Part 1 (Child) of the NMC Register.

Desirable Skills

• Be in possession of or working towards a degree in Nursing or other health related subject.
