Childcare Manager
Job description
We are seeking a dedicated Childcare Manager to join our team, to be responsible for the management, development and delivery of child care services and lead a team of professionals to provide nurturing care for children in a safe and stimulating environment in line with DHSSPS minimum standards for children under the age of 12.
Responsibilities
- To manage a staff team and be proactive in promoting a positive team spirit, encouraging staff members to work as part of a team.
- Offer support and supervision to students and volunteers placed in designated settings.
- Supervise staff members, arrange team meetings on a regular basis. To attend and facilitate appraisals as required.
- Provide written reports including Social Services case reviews, evaluation and Transition Forms.
- To manage a service which works in partnership with parents/carers ensuring a welcoming environment that supports their role and understanding of the care and education of their child(ren) including those with additional needs.
- Communicate effectively with children, parents, and colleagues.
- Manage daily activities and routines in the nursery.
- Utilise your experience working with children to create engaging and educational experiences.
- Provide leadership and guidance to support the development of young minds.
- Implement early childhood education practices.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- QCF level 5 Diploma in Child Care, Learning & Development, or a relevant occupational qualification in early years, education, social work, nursing, teaching or health visiting.
- A minimum 2 years' experience working with children aged 0-4 in a similar setting.
- 2 years' previous experience leading and supervising members of staff in an early years setting.
- Experience of ensuring with statutory and regulatory requirements, including minimum standards.
- An understanding of managing finances & budgets.
Desirable Skills
- BA hons degree in early childhood studies or degree level qualification in Early Years.
- A recognised management or leadership qualification.
Further Information
This role requires an interview by the Western Trust Early Years Team and is subject to approval by them. Any proposed candidate will be required to complete an enhanced Access NI check before taking up the post.
