Job description

As part of the outworking of this vision, we are seeking to employ an individual who will ensure that the church complex and environment is welcoming, clean and safe and to assist with the smooth and efficient running of the church complex. Responsibilities

• Support the vision of the church through a ministry of hospitality & welcome, stewardship of church property and facilitating worship and community events.
• Ensure that each room is tidy and arrange furniture and equipment as required for each ministry as per agreed working hours.
• Ensure that the church auditorium, toilets and other event spaces are prepared and cleaned before and after use in preparation for Sunday services. Assist with the preparation for special services and events, such as Christmas, Easter, weddings etc.
• Monitor the fabric of the building by regular checks both internally and externally for defects, damage or breakdown, reporting any major defects to the maintenance team.
• Undertake any minor repairs / improvements to the premises within the scope of your qualifications and experience.
• Carry out tasks to external areas of the premises including routine maintenance, rubbish removal, leaves clearance, lawn mowing, etc as required and discussed or identified.
• Ensure spaces are cleaned in accordance with the approved specification. Carry out any emergency cleaning.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively. Good attention to detail. Willingness to undertake a variety of practical tasks .
• Ability to work on own initiative. Ability to work as part of a team. Ability to communicate with staff, volunteers and church attendees effectively.
• Demonstrate some knowledge of building maintenance procedures and be able to perform basic maintenance/repairs, showing an awareness of health and safety procedures.
• Be sympathetic to the statement of faith and ethos of PBC.
