Job description

The Welding Academy is a six week intensive training course to prepare you for a job role in the engineering and manufacturing sector under the Assured Skills Programme. Those selected for the academy will study core industry competencies which have been mapped to the City & Guilds Level 2 MIG Welding qualification. If you successfully complete the course, you will be guaranteed a job interview with a supporting company. Participants will receive a £185 weekly training allowance for the duration of the academy, as well as help with travelling and childcare costs. If you successfully complete the course, you will be guaranteed a job interview with a supporting company. SRC will invite eligible applicants to attend an information session and interview the week commencing Monday 4 May 2026 at the SRC Portadown Campus. Successful applicants will attend intensive training at SRC’s training venue in Portadown starting Monday 18 May to Friday 26 June 2026. Training times are 9.15am to 5:15pm Monday to Friday. Applicants must be available for the whole of the training period.

Essential Skills

• Applicants must be at least 18 years and have a right to work and to undertake Assured Skills Training in the UK at the point of application and not be disqualified from doing either by reason of their immigration status.
