Bakehouse Packing & Dispatch Assistant
Job description
This role requires the preparation of ingredients, supports production of various bakery items, decorating and finishing and packaging & labelling of bakery products and & helps prepare products ready to dispatch to our stores.
Responsibilities
- Weighing ingredients, preparing mixes, fillings, icing, toppings.
- Lining trays and preparing tins.
- Dough scaling and shaping.
- Assisting bakers during production.
- Icing cakes, decorating traybakes, chocolate finishing.
- Filling pastries.
- Cutting, portioning and packing bakery items.
- Ensure correct labelling of products (ingredients, allergens, dates).
- Quality checking finished items.
- Prepares products ready for dispatch, order picking for each location.
- Organising dispatch and ensuring timely distribution.
- Stock rotation and basic stock handling.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Experience in a food production or kitchen environment.
- Good attention to detail, especially with labelling and allergens.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically active role.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and processes accurately.
- Good teamwork and communication skills.
Desirable Skills
- Previous bakery or food manufacturing experience.
- Basic food hygiene knowledge (e.g. Level 2 Food Safety).
- Experience with packing, labelling, or dispatch processes.
- Confidence with portioning and finishing baked goods.
- Understanding of stock rotation (FIFO).
