Work Psychologist (Staff Officer)
Job description
The postholder will be employed within the Work Psychology Service (WPS), a branch within the Corporate Services Division, part of the Work & Health Group of the Department for Communities. Develop the knowledge and skills of Work Coaches who provide early, intensive employment related support and work solutions to people with health conditions, disabilities and others who may experience employment challenges. Responsibilities
- Develop the knowledge and skills of Work Coaches who provide early, intensive employment related support and work solutions to people with health conditions, disabilities and others who may experience employment challenges.
- Provide specialist training and coaching to Work Coaches, Team Leaders and Managers.
- Conduct employment assessments with customers to provide employment related support and work solutions to people with health conditions and/or disabilities who may experience employment challenges.
- Design and pilot projects in areas of disability and employment provision and other areas.
- Deliver organisational development related solutions to assist performance across the Department.
- Support the wider Department to develop and implement policy initiatives to reduce economic inactivity and improve employment outcomes.
- Provide input for submissions / papers on a range of Machinery of Government needs.
- To engage in continuing professional development activities that meets the standards of the regulatory bodies and supports the delivery of a modern and effective Work Psychology Service.
- To regularly travel throughout Northern Ireland to fulfil the responsibilities of the post.
- To occasionally travel to Great Britain and Republic of Ireland to attend meetings and events.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- At least a second class Honours degree in Psychology recognised by the British Psychological Society (BPS) or Psychological Society of Ireland.
- And A BPS accredited Stage 1 Master's degree in Occupational Psychology (or name equivalent such as Organisational, Business or Industrial Psychology, or even Work Psychology and Business).
- And The successful candidate must be eligible and agreeable to commit to undertaking the Stage 2 Qualification in Occupational Psychology.
- This is a training route to achieve registration status with the Health Care Professions Council as an Occupational Psychologist Practitioner (See Condition of Appointment).
