Finance Officer


Job description

Provide administrative support to the Nursery Manager. The nature of the role requires a flexible approach and the ability to exercise initiative. They will be responsible to the Management Committee and to the Manager (who will be the line manager). The person appointed will be employed to undertake tasks appropriate to the smooth running of Appletree Childcare.

Responsibilities

  • Arrange payments to all suppliers. Petty cash management.
  • Assist Manager with stock control and ordering supplies Prepare monthly wages. Maintain financial records.
  • Assist with marketing. Assist with weekly invoicing, issuing end of months statements and credit control.
  • In conjunction with manager and committee, prepare a fundraising schedule and prepare funding applications.
  • Carry out other duties as may be required by the Manager and Management Committee.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Third Level qualification in a business related subject area. IT literate with experience of Microsoft office suite of programmes.
  • Working knowledge of SAGE. Minimum of two years’ experience in an administrative position.

Desirable Skills

  • To have or be working towards a recognised financial qualification. Experience in Community Development in regard to sourcing funding and writing funding applications or tenders.
  • Experience in preparing claims to funding bodies.
  • Understanding and application of payroll information and procedures.

Further Information

The person appointed is expected to be able to work well under pressure.
