Paediatric Stoma Care/Continence Advisor Band 7
Job description
The post-holder will be expected to use clinical judgment and decision making in relation to the management of patients within the Stoma Care Continence service. They will develop, recommend and implement internal standards/protocols, policies and procedures to improve quality and cost-effectiveness of patient care. This post will provide support to the Stoma Care Continence service, including in-patients and outpatients. The post-holder will provide cross cover to other Clinical Nurse Specialists within the team. Please see employer website for full job details & person specification.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of care for patients requiring stomas, bowel and bladder conditions.
- Develop, co-ordination and manage a caseload of children with bowel conditions requiring formation of a stoma (permanent or temporary) providing education, specialist nursing skills, knowledge and expertise to the family promoting continence.
- Develop and manage caseload of children with urology issues; assessing, educating, supporting the child and family, working within multidisciplinary team to support these children throughout treatments/surgeries, delivering nursing expertise etc.
- Provide specialist assessment and diagnosis, perform tests (uroflowmetry and bladder ultrasound scans), manage and develop treatment plans for children with daytime enuresis.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Be a registered nurse on Part 1 (Child) of the NMC Register.
- Minimum of 4 years’ post registration experience working in a paediatric setting including 1 year’s experience at a band 6 or equivalent.
- Or Minimum of 5 years’ post registration experience working in a paediatric surgical setting.
Further Information
Location: Royal Belfast Hospital For Sick Children. Salary: £47,810 - £54,710 per annum pro rata.
