Deputy Plastics Trauma Co-Ordinator Band 6
Job description
The post-holder will co-ordinate the efficient and effective management of plastic surgery trauma patients, focusing on enhancing access and improving quality. Assist in the management of the daily trauma clinic, and co-ordinate the admission, treatment/ surgery and discharge of patients from this clinic. Responsibilities
- To ensure all patients admitted to the Trauma Unit or service, are appropriately assessed, investigations ordered and treatment commenced in line with protocols, policies and procedures.
- To liaise with the Ward Manager, admitting medical staff in the Trauma Unit and feeder hospitals, and patient flow staff / bed manager to ensure effective planning of beds and theatre for trauma patients.
- To provide clinical expertise and specialist advice within this area of practice, as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- To provide high quality clinical care and assist in the clinical development of the trauma service by promoting the use of evidence based practice and clinical standards within the speciality.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Registered on part 1 of the NMC register (Adult).
- 3 years’ experience working as a band 5 registered nurse in Plastic Surgery within the last 5 years.
Desirable Skills
- Experience of clinical audit and evaluation of services. Working knowledge of computer software packages e.g. Microsoft word and Excel. Preoperative Assessment.
Further Information
Location: Ulster Hospital, Main Building. Salary: £38,682 - £46,580 per annum pro rata.
