Research Nursing Support Officer Band 3
Job description
The post holder will be part of a team (principal investigators, research nurses, study support officers and administrative staff) providing an effective and efficient support service to the Trust’s Research, Development and Innovation Department. The role will involve contributing to the general management/maintenance of the Department by performing a range of administrative and clinical activities as defined by the Research Manager. This will include supporting the Research Nursing team in clinical activities, data entry and reception support and a range of housekeeping activities within the department. Responsibilities
- To act as a resource and support to patients and carers.
- To provide ongoing communication/ support whilst the patient is in the research study and support non-clinical follow-up for other studies, in liaison with the research nursing team.
- With training, support research nursing team with phlebotomy duties, as and when required.
- To arrange timely collection of samples required as part of the research study and ensure safe and appropriate storage of specimens in conjunction with local support services staff and research nurses.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- NVQ Level 3 in Administration, Health, Health & Social Care or equivalent and relevant experience.
- Or NVQ Level 2 in Administration, Health, Health & Social Care or equivalent and 1 year’s relevant experience.
- Or 4 GCSE’s, including Maths and English, Grade A-C or equivalent and 2 year’s relevant experience.
Desirable Skills
- Phlebotomy experience or willing to undertake training following appointment. Previous research experience.
- Willing to undertake NVQ level 3 in Administration, Health or Health & Social Care.
