Finance Officer
Job description
To provide financial, administrative and clerical support to the Bursar, Principal and Board of Governors. This includes managing the school purchase ledger and contributing to the effective financial administration of the school. The role also involves general office duties, acting as visitor receptionist and assisting with broader financial tasks as required.
Responsibilities
- Operate requisitioning procedures, including the tendering, ordering, purchasing, receiving, checking, storage and distribution of resources.
- Manage the School financial management system computerised sales ledger. Comply with school tendering policies.
- Operate a purchase ledger and sales ledger for all school cost centres.
- Provide administrative support to the Principal and Bursar including front-facing duties as a visitor receptionist. The role includes assisting with lunchtime cover and contributing to the smooth running of the general office.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- GCSE passes including Mathematics and English (Grades A-C). NVQ Level 2 in Business Administration or relevant qualification.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in a busy finance office.
- 3 years’ experience of managing a purchase ledger.
- Experience in the use of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, or equivalent office packages.
Desirable Skills
- Third level qualification in business/accounting or relevant subject.
- Experience of working in an educational environment and knowledge of the C2K financial accounting system or equivalent
