Job description
The post holder will play a supportive role in leading the development of the Paediatric Infectious Diseases department in the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children (RBHSC), the only tertiary paediatric infectious disease service in Northern Ireland. The role involves providing a resource of specialist nursing skills, knowledge and expertise in the care and management of patients who have infectious diseases. Responsibilities
- Provide advanced specialist nursing skills, knowledge, and expertise in the care of children with infections.
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge base ensuring professional, academic, and clinical credibility, ensuring evidence-based practice.
- Provide direct support and telephone advice for patients, families neonatal units and District General Hospitals.
- Support the medical team with inpatient care.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Registered Nurse on Part 1 (Child) of the live NMC Register.
- Provides evidence of a minimum of five years post registration experience, three of which should include demonstration of working within the area of Infectious diseases/ IPCT (infection prevention and control team).
- Or Two years’ experience at Band 6, which includes demonstration of working within the area of infectious diseases/ IPCT (infection prevention & control team).
