Job description
Our Deputy General Manager (DGM) will be expected to support our General Manager in overseeing daily operations, leading department heads, ensuring high service standards, and acting as the primary decision-maker in the GM's absence. Our DGM will focus on operational efficiency, occupancy, financial performance, staff development and guest satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Operations Management: Oversee daily operations, including front of house, accommodation, kitchen, food & beverage, events/ banqueting, admin, maintenance departments and Health Club to ensure high service standards of service, efficient practices.
- Financial Control: Assist with KPIs, budget planning, forecasting, cost management, rota management and implementing strategies to maximise profitability and sales through efficient operations, and ultimately enhancing the guest’s experience.
- Deputising for GM: Act as the main decision-maker on-site when the GM is away, leading management team meetings and managing property operations, demonstrating s professional and courteous attitude.
- Staff Leadership & Development: Lead, motivate, and mentor department heads and staff, fostering a culture of high performance, performance management, excellent communication, training, and accountability and support the recruitment and selection.
- Guest Experience & Compliance: Ensure exceptional guest service, resolve complaints, and maintain strict adherence to health & safety and licensing regulations.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Experience: previously held a DGM position in a similar hotel for a minimum of two years, proven experience in hotel or hospitality management, preferred in a senior operational role.
- Leadership Skills: Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Operational Expertise: Strong knowledge of F&B, front office, kitchen, accommodation and hotel compliance.
- Education: requires a good standard of education, a hospitality management qualification and relevant work experience.
- Right to work and live in UK and Northern Ireland share code: required if non-British/non-Irish citizen.
Desirable Skills
- Leadership: Mentoring teams.
- Financial Management: Budgeting, forecasting, cost control and rota management.
- Operations: Front and back of house proficiency.
- Customer Service: High standards of hospitality.
- Communication: Professional interaction with staff and guests.
