Job description

The post-holder will be a member of the Day Surgery Team providing a supportive managerial role to the Department Manager and is responsible for carrying out programmes of care ensuring that practice is in accordance with NMC Code of Professional Conduct and the Scope of Professional Practice. The post-holder will be responsible for acting up on behalf of the Band 7 Day Surgery Manager during periods of absence, such as annual leave, study leave and short term sick leave. The post-holder will be responsible for regularly taking charge of the unit in the absence of the Day Surgery Manager, and will be responsible for leading a team of all bands of staff and co-ordinating care within all disciplines within the Unit. The post-holder will be required to provide a Service to patients in all aspects of care within the Day Surgery Department The Post-holder will have a key role in the planning/teaching/training and assessment of all staff in Anaesthetic, Surgery, Post-Operative Care, and Emergencies/resuscitation and outreach services as required.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• Registered Nurse on Part 1of the live NMC register (Adult).
• Or: BSc ( Hons) in Nursing and live on part 1 of the NMC register (Adult).
