Estates Project Manager


Job description

The College is seeking applications for an Estates Project Manager to be based in our Strand Road campus. The post-holder will be responsible for supporting the Estates Manager in the strategic planning, design, management, development and delivery of capital projects for North West Regional College. Current projects relate to the construction of a new build campus in Strabane and the refurbishment of the Main Street Campus in Limavady. Responsibilities

  • Define and develop implementation plans consistent with the College and Departmental strategy for new campus investment
  • Defining and developing planning systems consistent with NWRC strategy for the new campuses, monitoring progress to establish effectiveness in order to ensure that plans are delivered to specification in accordance with objectives
  • Responsible for co-ordination and the preparation of the detailed Outline Business Case/Economic Appraisal, manage external advisers, assemble teams, define their duties, prepare the brief for each discipline and monitor performance, etc
  • Co-ordinate and manage the process of consulting with, interpreting the requirements of and negotiating with NWRC Faculties and other internal and external stakeholders to provide appropriate accommodation within the new buildings
  • Directing the activities of both internal staff and external consultants to ensure a common direction is maintained and directly monitoring and controlling these activities

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Have at least a Level 6 qualification in a Construction or a Building-related discipline e.g. Architecture, Estates Management, Quantity Surveying, Building/Construction Management or Construction Engineering
  • Have at least 3 years post qualification experience (within the last 5 years) in Project Management, Estates Management, Building Management, Construction Management or a relevant discipline
  • Have experience of managing Design and Main Contractor Teams in the delivery of various forms of construction/retrofit/minor works contracts
  • Have experience of preparing works specifications
  • Have experience of budgetary management and control

Desirable Skills

  • Have a qualification in Project Management
  • Hold current full membership of an appropriate property/construction or estate management professional body
