Early Year Officer
Job description
Ballybeen Women’s Centre is looking to recruit an enthusiastic, motivated individual who has a passion for working with children. As an Early Years Officer you will be part of a supportive team and have an active role in the day to day running of the facility; ensuring the environment is safe, caring and welcoming to the children, while providing best practice at all times. You will work in partnership and build good relationships with parents and families.
Responsibilities
- To work as part of a team to develop and maintain a suitable programme of activities, which meet the needs of children in the early years facilities.
- To put into practice ideas and themes for each weeks childcare programmes.
- To be aware of children’s needs and level of development to ensure that each child gets the most out of the programme.
- To work in cooperation with parents/carers and keep them informed of their child’s development.
- Liaise with relevant health professionals such as health visitors as and when appropriate.
- To ensure that Ballybeen Women’s Centre’s child protection policy is enforced.
- To work as part of a team to monitor, review & develop the organisation’s policies & procedures relating to childcare in the interests of continuous quality improvements.
- To be able to work on one’s own initiative ensuring programmes are implemented.
- Encourage and support children to become involved in the programme of activities through one’s own active participation.
- Ensure that there is sufficient stock of equipment and resources and that the stock is well maintained.
- Ensure that work rotas are adhered to.
- Assist with the organisation of fundraising activities.
- Carry out general administration duties relating to early years facility.
- Participate in staff training where appropriate.
- Attend regular team meetings.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Qualified in Level 2 QCF or equivalent in Children's Care.
- Experience in working in a childcare facility.
- Knowledge of Safeguarding and Child Protection.
Desirable Skills
- Relevant training i.e. Paediatric First Aid, Designated Officer/Child Protection, Health and Safety and Food Hygiene.
- ICT skills.
- Experience working with children with additional needs.
