Job description
Lead on the development of, and sustain, an effective learning environment for nursing, midwifery and specialist community public health nursing students on a Trust-wide basis. Provide expert advice and leadership on the Trust-wide co-ordination of nurse education and learning activities for registered nurses, midwives, specialist community public health nurses post-registration and non-registered support staff to support the achievement of high quality nursing care. Specifically lead on the development of a learning and assessment governance framework to ensure the regulator’s requirements for nurses, midwives and specialist community public health nursing (Nursing and Midwifery Council) are met. Lead a team of practice education facilitators who will provide an operational role in ensuring the high quality of placement learning experiences for students is maintained for pre and post registration students completing various programmes including those for registration or recording a qualification with NMC competence. Establish and maintain partnership working with relevant education providers and stakeholders such as NIPEC, DOH, RCN. Be responsible for providing strong professional support and leadership for ward managers and team leaders, practice assessors and practice supervisors and students to ensure that the regulatory body requirements are met. Ensure the nurses and midwives completing programmes are fit for practice through the identification and development of high a quality work based learning environment to meet the demands of the changing context of health care. Work in partnership with others to develop systems to evaluate the effectiveness of pre and post-registration programme learning and education activities to provide enhanced value added benefits reflected in improved quality of care of patients and clients. Provide a leadership role in the continuous professional development of registrants and non- registrants to include the provision of professional support to Trust mandatory requirements such as preceptorship programmes and reflective supervision opportunities.
