Youth and Homework Club Worker


Job description

We are looking for a friendly, motivated and caring person to join our team at Culmore Community Hub. This is a combined role supporting: The Culmore Youth Engagement Programme ages 7 to 17 yearrs The Homework Club for primary school children P1 to P7 You’ll help create a safe, welcoming space where children and young people can: Take part in activities and social programmes Build confidence and life skills Get support with homework and learning Have their voices heard in their community

Responsibilities

  • Support and run fun, engaging activities for young people.
  • Help young people build confidence, friendships, and skills. Encourage young people to share ideas and take part in decisions. Support group work and positive participation. Help with planning and delivering youth programmes.
  • Admin duties.
  • Create a calm, safe and welcoming space after school, support children with homework and learning activities and supervise quiet activities like reading, drawing and games.
  • Help set up and tidy the space each session, support snack time and daily routines, safely escort children from school pickup points and keep simple attendance records and communicate with parents.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Experience working with children or young people or a willingness to complete an OCN Level 2 in Youth Leadership (if not already qualified).
  • Ability to work with groups and support young people’s development.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and keeping children safe.
  • Good communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Friendly, approachable and inclusive attitude.
  • Passion for supporting children and young people.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience working with schools, families, or community groups.
  • Basic IT skills (emails, records, reporting).
  • Experience evaluating or reviewing programmes.
