Job description
We are seeking an experienced Youth Worker Assistant to join our team at CAMP HOPE NI to help plan and deliver face-to-face youth work with children and young people that have suffered domestic or sexual abuse. To support and assist in the delivery of the Camp Hope youth programme.
Responsibilities
- To work with young Women to safeguard their welfare.
- To initiate, develop and maintain positive relationships with young people to identify key issues relevant to them.
- To support planning and delivering face-to-face support work sessions. people.
- To promote and encourage participation and the empowerment of young people.
- To support delivery capacity building programmes, such as Self-Esteem and Confidence Building; and Healthy Relationships.
- To support young women within the project by signposting and encouraging them to join in the activities provided within the programme.
- To contribute to support and service planning around the young people.
- To carry out meetings with young people to agree their support, both on-site and outreach.

Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Degree in Childhood Studies/Health & Social Care or similar, Level 5 Children and Young People.
- Knowledge of current legislation when working with children and young people, particularly safeguarding.
- Must pass Enhanced Access NI Check.
- 1 years experience of working with young people.
- Experience of project monitoring and evaluation.
- Good communication, influencing and negotiation skills.
- Ability to build relationships and maintain dialogue with young people.
- Knowledge of local provision to signpost.
- Competence in use of common computer applications, including word processing and email.
- Ability to undertake administration, including report writing.
- Ability to self-manage and use own initiative.
- Team player.
- Ability to work unsocial hours.
Desirable Skills
- Safeguarding Training First Aid Child Protection
- 2 years’ experience working with young people.
- Experience of facilitating group work programmes.
- Awareness of domestic violence.
- Good understanding of issues young people living in domestic violence situations will encounter.
- Qualification in computers.
