Job description
We are looking for a caring, enthusiastic Early Years Support Worker to join our team at the Sweet Peas Creche within POD15. The successful candidate will help deliver high quality childcare, support children’s development, and contribute to a welcoming, safe environment for families who use the Centre. This is a maternity cover role working 26 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Shifts include 9am to 1pm and 9am to 5pm, with the possibility of additional hours depending on funding and project needs.
Responsibilities
- Provide high quality care and support for children attending Centre based activities.
- Help run the Creche facilities in a safe, child focused environment.
- Create fun, educational play sessions using creativity and imagination.
- Participate in outings, events, and parenting sessions.
- Assist with preparing play areas, supervising activities, and maintaining equipment.
- Maintain records and uphold safeguarding and Health & Safety standards at all times.
- Support mothers and build positive relationships with families.
- To develop and promote crèche facilities within the Centre.
- To supervise, provide care and support children who are using the activities organised by the Centre.
- To provide support and activities for families, including parenting skills.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Experience working with children in a childcare or early years setting.
- Commitment to confidentiality, equality, and safeguarding.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety in childcare environments.
- A minimum of Level 3 or equivalent Childcare qualification
- A minimum of 1 year’s relevant practical crèche experience of working with children, demonstrating your ability to relate well to children and their parents
- An awareness of vulnerable families and a good understanding of the issues children living in difficult situations will encounter
- You will be subject to an Enhanced Access NI Check
Desirable Skills
- Level 5 Diploma for Children’s Care, Learning and Development or equivalent
- A minimum of 2 years’ relevant practical crèche experience of working with children, demonstrating your ability to relate well to children and their parents
- Qualification in safeguarding children Qualification in Child Protection Qualification in First Aid
- Knowledge of current legislation when working with children, particularly their safeguarding
- Qualification in Child Protection
- Qualification in First Aid
