Job description
We are seeking a passionate, skilled Healthy Relationships Facilitator to join our PEACEPLUS programme team. This role will deliver innovative, trauma-informed workshops and interventions that promote healthy, respectful relationships, challenge harmful attitudes, and help end violence against women and girls, and improve relationships across race, gender, religion and communities.
Responsibilities
- Attitudes and behaviors:
- Ensure commitment to the ethos, core aims and objectives of Fermanagh and Omagh Women’s Aid.
- Ensure that a high standard of support for women and children accessing Fermanagh and Omagh Women’s Aid Services is maintained.
- Ensure Women and Children accessing services are involved in the decision making, designing and developing of services and setting quality standards.
- To keep informed of good practise in relation to Domestic and Sexual Violence.
- Strategy and Policy:
- To keep informed of the context in which Fermanagh and Omagh Women’s Aid operates in relation to Government/ Departmental strategies.
- To build up and maintain up to date reference bank of materials relevant for the delivery of Training.
- To ensure that training adheres to Fermanagh and Omagh Women’s Aid agreed Policies and Procedures.
- Goverance:
- Provide timely and accurate monthly reports to Fermanagh and Omagh Women’s Aid CEO for presentation to Board of Directors.
- Communication and information:
- Deliver engaging group sessions and training on healthy relationships, communication, consent, equality, and conflict resolution.
- Lead prevention and awareness activities around peacebuilding and EVAWG, including domestic abuse, coercive control, sexual violence and harassment, racism, misogyny, homophobia and sectarianism.
- Engage with community groups to co-design relevant, inclusive programmes.
- Provide signposting and support for participants, ensuring safeguarding and confidentiality.
- Build strong links with statutory and community partners to strengthen local prevention work.
- Monitor and evaluate programme outcomes, ensuring compliance with PEACEPLUS reporting requirements.
- To adhere to Fermanagh and Omagh Women’s Aid Data Protection and Record Retention Policy in line with service delivery.
- Internal:
- To maintain accurate and timely records.
- To provide data and reports when required.
- To adhere to Fermanagh and Omagh Women’s Aid ICT Policy and in particular your responsibility to adhere to the proper use of all email, databases and internet services.
- External:
- To ensure that good public relations are maintained between Fermanagh and Omagh Women’s Aid and other organisations, agencies, service users & stakeholders.
- On occasion represent the organisation at events or meetings.
- Finance:
- Ensure that your training operates effectively and efficiently within agreed revenue and capital budgets.
- Participate in fundraising activities and events.
- Health and safety:
- To ensure that health & safety procedures are adhered to.
- Ensure your work is in line with relevant Legislative and Statutory obligations.
- To respect the confidentiality of any and all information received as a result of the post holder duties.
- No Job description can be considered complete, to undertake any additional duties which may be specified by Fermanagh and Omagh Women’s Aid Board of Directors.
- Be flexible and responsive to project needs by being available to work evenings and weekends on a rota basis and to take part on the on-call rota as required.
- Act on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer as directed.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Education/Qualification:
- Qualification in Social Work, Youth Work, Education, Counselling, Psychology, Gender Studies, Community Development or related field. Other equivalencies will be considered.
- Knowledge of Adult Protection and Child Protection Policies and Procedures.
- Knowledge of cross community work.
- Knowledge of designated agencies, statutory bodies, community service providers & response networks in the field of working with women who have experienced Domestic Violence.
- Knowledge of the aims and principles of Women’s Aid and an ability to work within a self-help framework which is the underpinning principle of the organisation.
- Proven experience facilitating workshops / group learning, ideally on relationships and equality in an NI context.
- Strong knowledge of violence against women and girls, domestic abuse, sexual violence and related issues.
- Knowledge of the intersections between misogyny and other forms of discrimination.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and group facilitation skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion.
- Flexibility to work evenings/weekends and travel across the project area.
- Ability to work both independently and as a member of a professional team.
- Ability to contribute to effective relationships within the team through collaborative working and discussion.
- Ability to respect the roles and responsibility of all members of the team.
- Ability to participate in team meetings respecting other’s opinions and differences.
- Ability to be self-reflective.
- Ability to consider and construct practices which acknowledge and incorporate the experiences of persons who are marginalized.
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries.
- Ability to adapt practice approaches to incorporate new ideas and suggestions.
- Commitment to the needs and issues of women, children and young people.

- A sound value base of practice.
- To maintain and promote the ethos that underpins the policies and practice of Women’ Aid.
Desirable Skills
- Ability to monitor programme outcomes effectively.
- Experience of PEACE or EU-funded community projects.
- Extensive experience of planning and facilitating group workshops.
Further Information
Other Requirements: Flexible and responsive to project needs, including evening and weekend work. Ability to cover on call rota once every 6 weeks. To be able to fulfil the physical requirements of the post. Due to the nature of the post which involves working in a confidential environment, the candidate will be vetted and is subject to Access NI check and providing suitable references. To undertake any additional duties relevant to the post or maybe specified by the CEO. Duties and responsibilities may be amended as a result of ongoing evaluation.
