Job description

The post holder will work as an effective member of the Primary Care Team, delivering high quality care and treatment within a Prison environment. Care delivered is equal with that provided in the community. They will provide day to day management and professional leadership to a team of nurses within the prison environment and will work in collaboration with the wider multi-disciplinary team and with colleagues in the Northern Ireland Prison Service. They will be responsible for ensuring the timely and effective response to healthcare emergency situations and provision of appropriate care including onward referral and care arrangements as necessary. They will be designated to take charge of the healthcare centre on a regular basis and to deputise for the Nursing Sister/Charge Nurse when required. The post holder is accountable for their department and will: Promote and monitor safe and effective practice. Enhance the patient / client experience. Provide effective leadership and management. Contribute to the delivery of the organisations objectives. Adhere to Trust values. Comply with Northern Ireland Prison Service (NIPS) policies, procedures, guidelines and protocols as relevant to healthcare staff.
