CALMS is seeking applications from highly skilled and experienced Complementary Therapists to deliver face to face therapeutic interventions to adults and young people in Derry/Londonderry who experience stress, trauma and stress related illness arising from the Northern Ireland Troubles. Applicants must demonstrate advanced professional competence and be qualified in a minimum of two complementary therapy modalities preferably reflexology and massage. Strong preference will be given to applicants qualified in three or more recognised and evidence based complementary therapies, as this enhances service flexibility, continuity of care and value for money. Therapists must be able to assess individual need and exercise professional judgement in selecting appropriate interventions within a trauma informed, person centred framework. Trauma Informed Practice Requirements: All services commissioned through this tender must be delivered in line with trauma informed principles and VSS guidance, demonstrating: An understanding of the impact of conflict related trauma. Safe, respectful and choice based engagement. Appropriate boundaries, consent and safeguarding awareness. Clear referral and escalation processes. Recognised therapies may include but are not limited to: Aromatherapy. Reflexology. Body Massage. Indian Head Massage. Applicants may propose additional validated complementary therapies for consideration, subject to: Recognition by a relevant professional body. Evidence of training and competence. Evidence of effectiveness within trauma affected populations.

Essential Skills
- Be a member of a recognised professional body (e.g. Federation of Holistic Therapists or equivalent)
- Hold professional indemnity insurance with a minimum value of £5 million
- Be qualified in at least two complementary therapy modalities
- Have a minimum of three years’ experience working with trauma affected individuals in mental health or community settings

Invitation To Tender: Provision of Complementary Therapy. For Living Victims/Survivors of the Northern Ireland Troubles. Contract Period: 1 May 2026 to 31 March 2027 (with the possibility of extension, subject to continued funding). Funding Body: Victims and Survivors Service (VSS). Closing Date: 12 noon on 1st May 2026. Submission Method: Hard copy submissions only. This Invitation to Tender is issued under funding provided by the Victims and Survivors Service (VSS). All services must be delivered in accordance with VSS guidance and trauma informed expectations. Tender submission requirements: Submissions must be provided in hard copy only. One copy per role applied for (unless applying for multiple roles). Clearly mark the sealed envelope with the relevant service area(s). Submissions must include: Curriculum Vitae. Copies of qualifications and certificates (in order of attainment). Evidence of professional membership (where applicable). Proof of professional insurance. Evidence addressing all scoring criteria. Two references (contacted only if successful). Failure to follow the required format will render the tender non compliant. Evaluation Criteria: Complementary Therapists (Total Score: 100). Professional body membership (10). Relevant third level or equivalent qualification (10). Qualified in at least two complementary therapies (5). Additional modalities (three or more) (10). Minimum three years’ continuous experience in mental health/trauma settings (10). Demonstration of qualifications (5). Trauma informed training or experience( 5). Experience working with victims/survivors of the Troubles (15). Evidence of continuing professional development (10). Professional insurance (£5m minimum) (4). Child and Adult Safeguarding training (3). Mental Health First Aid / ASIST or equivalent (3). GDPR, confidentiality and health & safety knowledge (3). IT literacy and secure data handling (2). Availability and flexibility (3). Submission of CV and documentation (2). Assessment and Reserve List: Tenders will be assessed by a panel appointed by CALMS. Applicants must achieve: 90 or more for complementary roles in order to be placed on the CALMS Reserve List. Inclusion on the Reserve List does not guarantee hours or work.
