Medical Receptionist/Administrator
Job description
My client based BT18 area of Co Down require a Full-time Medical Receptionist/Administrator to join their team. The successful candidate will be expected to provide an effective & efficient service to the Practice.
Responsibilities
- Greeting patients in person and on telephone, making and cancelling appointments.
- Update patients computer records as directed.
- Liaising with various agencies where required to provide repeat prescriptions when authorised.
- Coordinate patient appointments, hospital letters etc with staff members to ensure procedures are effective.
- Ordering ambulances and booking interpreting services and secondary care appointments as directed by the GP.
- Process incoming & outgoing mail.
- Other administrative & customer care duties as directed by the surgery management.
- Providing information regarding practice services.
- Diary management.
- Organising, filing and maintaining patient records.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- 5 GCSEs grade A-C including Maths & English or equivalent.
- Proven verbal, written & interpersonal skills.
- Fully computer literate.
- Previous experience in a similar role to include telephone & face to face contact.
- Flexibility to cover sickness & holidays.
- Evidence of working in a team & on own initiative.
- Excellent communication & organisational skills.
- Must be available to work between 2 sites.
Desirable Skills
- Working within a GP surgery advantageous however full training will be given.
Further Information
Temporary with the view to becoming permanent. Work Time: Surgery open 8.30am - 6pm. 37.5 hours to be worked between these times. On-site parking.
