Staff Nurse
Job description
The post holder is responsible for the assessment of person centred care and the development, implementation and evaluation of care, for patients who are attending the department for Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapies (SACT) and/or supportive therapies associated with treatment. The post holder is expected to carry out all relevant forms of care without direct supervision and will be required to supervise and demonstrate procedures to qualified and/or unqualified staff. Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Registered staff nurse on part 1 or 12 (adult) of the Nursing and Midwifery Council register.
- 3 years’ post registration nursing experience, 2 years’ of which should be in a Haematology or Oncology environment.
- Post-registration qualification in relevant specialty (i.e. SACT Module or Haematology course).
- Be competent in venepuncture, cannulation, administration of IV drugs and blood products.
- Competent in management and care of Central Venous Access Devices (CVADs).
Desirable Skills
- Be in possession of or working towards a degree in Nursing or other Health related subject.
