Deputy Ward Sister
Job description
The post holder will: Support the Ward Sister in the general management function and in the co-ordination of high quality services to patients and relatives. Under the direction of the Ward Sister, lead in the development of all aspects of nursing within the department, through the professional development of nursing staff, the implementation of evidence based practise and clinical audit. Responsibilities
- The development and supervision of clinical practise.
- The assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of programmes and standards of care.
- Teaching and supervision of nursing staff and health care support workers.
- The coordination of high quality person centred care.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Minimum 2 years' post registration nursing experience, 18 months of which should be in an Oncology/Haematology environment.
- Experience in taking responsibility for the management of a clinical area.
- Registered Nurse on Part 1 of the NMC register (General Adult Branch).
- Evidence of continuous personal and professional development.
Desirable Skills
- Degree in Health related subject or working towards same.
- Post registration qualification in Haematology or Oncology.
