An excellent opportunity has arisen to join Northern Ireland Housing Executive in Newtownabbey as an Electrician. In this role, you will carry out electrical maintenance and repair work across housing properties, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in line with required standards. About the role: £16.90 - £18.85 per hour Monday to Thursday (8.30am - 4.30pm), (Friday 8.30am - 4:00pm) Holidays: 35 days annual leave per annum Duration of post: Temporary, ongoing Public sector Please note closing date for this vacancy is 12 noon on 1st May 2026 - however you can register your interest for other upcoming vacancies by applying today

Responsibilities

• To contribute to the provision of a modern, professional and responsive service to support NIHE business delivery.
• Conducting electrical maintenance, fault-finding, and diagnostics in Housing Executive properties.
• Carry out health and safety testing of equipment.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• Have successfully completed a time served or skills electrical apprenticeship.
• Have a minimum of one year’s relevant post apprenticeship experience working in an electrical environment. (Relevant experience will be interpreted as working as an electrician on improvement or maintenance of properties.)
• Hold a Level 3 certificate in the requirements for Electrical Installation to C&G 2382-18 (18th Edition), or will achieve within 9 months of taking up post.
• Hold either C&G 2391/2382 OR C&G 2394/2395 electrical testing and inspection, or will achieve within 9 months of taking up post.
• Be currently registered on a recognised license to practice scheme at a qualified level (such as Spark-safe, etc.), or will achieve within 9 months of taking up post.
• Can demonstrate practical knowledge and understanding of current Health and Safety requirements and legislation in a maintenance/repair environment.
• As part of the reference checking and vetting process for this position you will be requested to undertake a Basic AccessNI Disclosure. Having a criminal record will not necessarily be a bar to obtaining a position.
