Job description

Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse Cath lab bay Band 6 To support the Ward sister in providing leadership and clinical expertise within the ward/department, developing and promoting the Cardiology service within the Belfast Trust. The post holder is accountable for their ward/department and will promote and monitor safe and effective practice. Contribute to the current performance indicators demonstrating person centred care within the Cardiology service ensuring patients are managed appropriately throughout their patient journey to enhance the patient/client experience. To be involved in leading and developing care and will hold continuing responsibility for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation, evaluation of programmes of care and setting standards of care. The post holder is designated to take charge regularly in the absence of the person who has continuing responsibility and will provide safe and effective management of the ward/department. The post involves drawing on own expertise, the post holder will disseminate expert evidence based knowledge and skills in order to continuously develop self and others whilst adhering to the Trust values.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• Registered Nurse on Part 1, of the live NMC Register (general adult branch).

Desirable Skills

• Degree.
• Evidence of post graduate courses in Cardiology or undertake same.
• Demonstrate evidence of leading cardiac arrests as part of continuous personal and professional development.
• IT literacy.
