Deputy Sister/ Deputy Charge Nurse


Job description

The post-holder will assist the Ward Sister/Charge Nurse in managing the unit both in terms of long term planning & delivery and day-to-day clinical management. The post holder is designated to take charge regularly of the ward/dept in the absence of the person who has continuing responsibility. The post holder will lead a team that demonstrates person-centred care, through role-modelling this approach to care in their own practice. In addition, the post holder will lead the development of the care setting, seeking opportunities for learning and development. Drawing on own expertise, the post holder will disseminate expert evidence based knowledge and skills in order to continuously develop self and others, within the multi-disciplinary team.

  • Actively contributes to clinical management and care advancement to ensure the department meets the relevant standards and targets.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Registered Nurse on Part 1 of the NMC register (General Adult Branch).

Desirable Skills

  • Hold a degree in Nursing.
