Job description

The post holder will; Assist the Lead Nurse/Assistant Services Manager in the development, co-ordination and delivery of high quality services within the Specialist Surgery Day Unit (SSDU) and Specialist Surgery Pre Assessment Hub. Liaise closely with members of the multi-disciplinary team to improve channels of communication, allow maximum utilisation of resources, and promote continuity and co-ordination of the services within their sphere of responsibility. Lead on ensuring efficient and effective service delivery within Regional Surgical Specialities. They will lead on specific components of service modernisation. Provide clear leadership and oversee the co-ordination of all staff and clinics within their span of control. Be responsible for the monitoring and analysis of any variances in performances from agreed plans and standards. Be responsible for a devolved budget and is accountable for the effective financial management and performance through budget management and control. Carry continuing responsibility for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care, standards setting within the Specialist Surgery Day Unit and Pre-Assessment Hub and will be responsible for the deployment, supervision and teaching of students and other staff. The post holder is accountable for their Ward or Department and will: Promote and monitor safe and effective practice. Enhance the patient / client experience. Provide effective leadership and management. Contribute to the delivery of the organisations strategies and objectives. The post holder will promote and support effective team working, fostering a culture of openness and transparency. The post holder will ensure that they take all concerns raised with them seriously and act in accordance with: The Code (NMC 2018) particularly sections 16 and 17, as well as the Employer’s Raising Concerns Policy.
