Job description

The Deputy Manager play an integral role in the successful running of the nursery. You will work closely with the Nursery Manager to ensure the provision of a welcoming, secure, and stimulating environment for the children in our care. As Deputy Manager you will be responsible for the running of the setting in the absence of the manager.

Responsibilities

• To run the unit and nursery efficiently and effectively.
• To show prospective parents around the nursery.
• To liaise with outside agencies when required.
• To fulfil the role of Designated Officer.
• To fulfil the role of Manager when they are absent from the nursery.
• To be involved in recruitment as required.
• Responsible for organising and implementing a stimulating and varied programme of age appropriate activities.
• To maintain health and safety procedures.
• To deal with general enquiries.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• BA Hons in Early Childhood Studies or QCF Level 5 Leadership for Children's Care Learning and Development, or equivalent.
• A minimum of 1 year experience in a supervisor role in a quality child centred environment.
• Ability to demonstrate a commitment to a quality child centred environment.
• A good level of understanding of children's individual needs.
• Experience working with children between the ages of 0 and 7 years.

Desirable Skills

• Valid Paediatric First Aid.
• Designated Officer Training.
• Experience in a management role in a quality child centred environment.
• Working knowledge and general level of computer literacy skills .
