Job description
To provide advice, support and services to children, young people and their families in accordance with the aims and objectives of the service. Please see employer website for full job details & person specification.
Responsibilities
- To support sanctuary seeing young people through the development and facilitation of the Ubuntu Youth Voice Network and its groups
- Deliver participation and leadership training for young adults tailored to their age, stage and needs
- To actively engage with children and young people to express their views, identify key priorities, promote self-advocacy and participate in system change
- To identify and secure a range of appropriate audiences for children and young people to communicate their views through a variety of methods
- Recruit for and deliver our Parenting Programme
- To present and deliver training and support to community groups and statutory organisations working or planning to work with children and families arrived seeking sanctuary, through practice sharing
- To support Programme Development to groups and organisations by helping them set up initiatives and deliver programmes tailored to their community
- To support the development of an NI wide network of practitioner who are specifically working with children and families seeking sanctuary
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Demonstrable experience of leading, designing and facilitating group work programmes, with and for young people and young adults
- Demonstrable experience of using a range of innovative methods and approaches to participation with children and young people.
- Demonstratable experience of working within confidentiality, GDPR, Safeguarding Policies and Procedures, and promoting the welfare of children
- Demonstratable experience in completing written reports, collating impact reports and session recordings in English and have IT skills including the use of Microsoft Word, and Outlook
Further Information
Fixed term funded post. End date: 30th June 2028. Ubuntu roughly translating to I am because we are is a new project funded by The National Lottery Community Fund and delivered by Barnardos. The Ubuntu Project is focused on supporting communities and connecting voluntary and statutory organisations working directly with children, young people and families who have arrived in to NI seeking sanctuary. This includes those who have arrived as refugees and those who make a claim for asylum after they arrive. The project has 3 strands, Ubuntu Youth Voice Network, Ubuntu Practitioners Network and the Community Development Strand.
