Personal Care Assistant
Job description
A caring, compassionate and dependable Personal Carer is required to support a woman living in her own home. This role is funded through Direct Payments and is focused on promoting independence, dignity, safety and wellbeing within a familiar home environment. You will play a crucial role in empowering the individual to live independently and improve their quality of life. Shifts will be available mornings and evenings throughout the week. Access NI required and access to own vehicle.
Responsibilities
- Personal Care Tasks: Assist the individual with personal hygiene tasks such as bathing and dressing.
- Mobility Assistance: Provide physical assistance and support with transfers and mobility aids such as hoist or steady.
- Emotional Support: Offer emotional support and companionship to the individual, actively listening to their concerns and providing encouragement.
- Health Monitoring: Monitor the individuals' health status and report any changes or concerns to the employer or healthcare professionals.
- Communication: Facilitate communication between the individual and healthcare providers, family members, or support networks as needed through use of communication aids.
- Safety: Ensure the safety and well-being of the individual by identifying and addressing potential hazards or risks in the environment and reporting any household maintenance concerns to the employer.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Ability to work independently and use initiative.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to provide personal care service in a dignified and person-centred manner.
- Flexible approach to job role and nature of the individuals changing condition.
Desirable Skills
- Previous care experience desirable not essential.
- Previous moving and handling experience.
- Relevant qualifications in healthcare, social work, or a related field may be beneficial.
- Knowledge and understanding of the impact of MND.
