Job description

The BMP (Ballyarnett Men’s Programme) will work with a group of men with the aim of uniting people and communities to strengthen community relations to grow stronger, work better together and create spaces for all to share. The BMP will work directly with participants on a cross community and cross border basis and bring them together around a programme of shared activity that will allow men from diverse backgrounds to connect and help them understand each other and also to have fun and build lasting relationships leading to improved understanding and respect for differing cultural identities. The BMP will benefit not only the direct participants but also their wider circle of friends, families, and communities.

Responsibilities

  • Animate and oversee the activities of the BMP programme. Implement the programmes and ensure the resources, and systems required to successfully deliver the project are in place.
  • Support the Leafair Community Association Committee and BMP Steering Group.
  • Identify opportunities to recruit appropriate participants for the diverse elements of the programme, and devise an ongoing recruitment process.
  • Ensure all participants have an individual needs analysis and plans to enable maximum opportunity and engagement.
  • To work with the BMP steering group develop a recruitment strategy which will identify target groups and how best to reach them, and develop projects, activities and initiatives to address identified needs.
  • To enlist a multiple method marketing and media approach for the purpose of recruiting, communication and project exposure and platforming.
  • To ensure that the organisation/s and funding body/ies are always referenced in any media or communications.
  • Maintain accurate records of expenditure for the project, in keeping with Leafair Community Association Ltd procedures.
  • Prepare monthly reports on the progress of the project for the BMP steering group and the Board of Leafair Community Association Ltd.
  • To evaluate the programme on an ongoing basis and to provide regular evaluation reports as requested.
  • Any other duties deemed as reasonable in accordance with the aims and objectives of Leafair Community Association Ltd.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • A 3rd level Professional qualification and a minimum of 3 years’ experience, or at least 5 years experience animating or co-ordinating a community or equivalent project.
  • An understanding of the voluntary and community sector.
  • Experience in supporting vulnerable people in a community setting.
  • Experience of working in a team including volunteer team members.
  • Experience in animating community project(s) including working with staff and volunteers, budgets; financial controls; monitoring and evaluating; reporting; and programme development.
  • Ability to work flexible hours at times demanded by the position.
  • Ability to work flexible hours at times demanded by the position.
  • Ability to retain confidence and discretion.
  • Excellent facilitation and communication skills.
  • Flexible, approachable and can work under pressure.
  • Demonstrate ability to work on own initiative with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent I.T. and Social Media skills.
  • Demonstrate ability to work on own initiative with minimal supervision.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable Skills

  • Knowledge of the issues facing men in engaging in community programmes.
  • Knowledge of cross community/cross border community development.
  • Knowledge of or interest in Men’s Shed projects.
  • Safeguarding.
  • Knowledge and experience of working in Peace funded projects.
