Job description

Caretaker for St Joseph's Hall Omagh -One year fixed term contract with possible extension To facilitate the operational needs of the parish the role may include evening and weekend work.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake regular daily and weekly cleaning schedule of all areas of the hall to ensure a high standard of cleanliness.
  • Ensuring a sufficient supply of cleaning materials and being responsible for the storage of them, in accordance with prevailing Health & Safety regulations.
  • Monitors the appropriate levels of heating and lighting of the Hall, in accordance with guidance from Line manager.
  • Basic maintenance work in the Parish Hall (e.g., changing light bulbs (low level), painting, leaf clearance, and gutter/gully maintenance.
  • Monitor oils levels in Parish Hall.
  • Attendance at bi-weekly meeting with Parish office to discuss hall bookings and rota as required.
  • Attendance at weekly meeting to advise parish priest and parish hall committee of forthcoming bookings, outstanding invoices and other hall related matters.
  • Preparation of Hall including but not limited to moving of furniture and setting up of tables/chairs for weekly bookings and clearing up following event.
  • Attendance as a keyholder at events in the parish hall as rota dictates.
  • Ensure Parish Hall is secured as rota dictates.
  • Plus additional responsibilities as outlined within the job description contained in the application pack.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience of caretaking and basic maintenance either in an employed or voluntary capacity.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety Procedures.
  • Teamwork skills.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
