Job description

The Brand Home Duty Manager supports the Assistant Operations Manager and wider Brand Home management team in the safe, smooth and consistent day-to-day running of McConnell's Brand Home. This is a shift-based supervisory role with responsibility for opening, closing, daily operational checks, team coordination, guest support, service standards, health and safety compliance and clear management handover. The role is designed to provide visible leadership during operational shifts while ensuring that agreed procedures, standards and management instructions are followed. It plays a key part in supporting the Assistant Operations Manager to maintain standards across tours, cafe, bar, retail and event activity.

Responsibilities

  • Act as Duty Manager during assigned shifts, ensuring the Brand Home operates safely, professionally and in line with agreed procedures.
  • Support the Assistant Operations Manager by maintaining day-to-day operational control during live service.
  • Open and close the building in accordance with company procedures, including security, alarm setting, operational readiness and end-of-day checks.
  • Coordinate the frontline team during the shift, allocating duties and ensuring appropriate service cover.
  • Identify operational issues during the shift and escalate them promptly to the Assistant Operations Manager or Operations Manager.
  • Ensure agreed SOPs, checklists and management instructions are followed consistently by the team.
  • Provide practical, on-shift guidance and support to Brand Hosts, casual staff and frontline team members.
  • Communicate staff performance, conduct, absence, training or attitude concerns to the Assistant Operations Manager.
  • Report stock shortages, wastage, product issues or ordering concerns to the Assistant Operations Manager.
  • Maintain accurate records for daily checks, cash controls, incidents and handovers.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Previous supervisory or duty management experience in hospitality, tourism, retail, events or visitor experience.
  • Confidence in leading a team during busy operational shifts.
  • Strong customer service skills and confidence handling guest queries or complaints.
  • Experience with opening, closing, cash handling or daily operational checks.
  • Legal right to work in the UK.
  • Experience with opening, closing, cash handling or daily operational checks.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience in a visitor attraction, distillery, cultural venue or tourism environment.
  • First Aid, Fire Marshal or food safety training.
  • Experience using POS, booking or rota systems.
  • Previous experience supporting events or private hire operations.
