Our client RLC, one of the leading engineering companies in Crumlin is seeking a Buyer to join their team.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for ensuring the procurement of products and on-time delivery of quality materials within budget based on required demands utilising the current systems and processes available on site.
  • Manage delivery flow of parts and services and communicate issues to manufacturing cells.
  • Working as part of a team to ensure the successful development of relationships with key business stakeholders.
  • Liaise with suppliers on a daily basis in relation to orders/delivery dates and any issues connected to this, ensuring operations are fully kept up to date.
  • Performing supplier reviews, monitoring, reporting and ensuring compliance with all contractual commitments and where necessary visiting the supplier both local and within the UK.
  • Highlight and implement cost saving/cost avoidance opportunities, both internally and with suppliers.
  • Introduce control mechanisms in supply chain to support manufacturing cells e.g. call-offs, Kanban, consigned stock, MOQs.
  • Using problem solving techniques to develop internal processes working with internal stakeholders and suppliers to provide continuous improvement and cost saving initiatives within the business.
  • Ensuring pricing is up to date. Along with regular updates, reviewing MRP for any cost saving potentials.
  • Ensure invoice matching is kept up to date regularly.
  • Anything else deemed reasonable by the Supply Chain Manager.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Degree qualified or CIPS qualified or substantial relevant hands-on experience.
  • Minimum 3 years’ hands on experience within a similar role in a manufacturing environment with a proven track record in the execution of buying, forecasting and replenishment, SIOP, RCCP, MPS, MRP, where customer requirements can change regularly.
  • Must have a proven track record of hands-on experience & excellent working knowledge of MRP & ERP systems.
  • Hands-on experience on driving and chairing process improvement. Must have a proven track records and experience of on time meeting targets in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must have strong customer & supplier management experience.
  • Either from an automotive or aerospace manufacturing environment.
  • Must have excellent working knowledge of procurement.
  • Excellent written and oral communication, presentation and interpersonal skills. Strong relationship building skills. Strong numerical reasoning skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft suite, specifically advanced excel skills is crucial.
  • Sound knowledge of supply chain processes and management within manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of business operations, manufacturing processes, lead-time, stock management, lean manufacturing & CI concepts and applications.
  • Strong process improvement and project management skills.
  • Excellent organisational, time management & prioritisation skills.
  • Ability to assimilate information timely and accurately from different sources to generate & execute achievable plans.
  • Available and willing to work additional hours when required to ensure deadlines are met.
