Job description

We are seeking an Accounts Administrator to support the financial administration of a fast-paced Ground Handling and Cargo Operations company. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing invoices, reconciling accounts, and assisting with day-to-day accounting activities related to cargo operations, freight billing, and supplier management.

Responsibilities

  • Process purchase invoices, sales invoices, and credit notes accurately and on time.
  • Maintain accounts payable and accounts receivable records.
  • Reconcile bank statements, supplier accounts, and customer accounts.
  • Assist with cargo billing, freight charges, customs-related documentation, and payment tracking.
  • Prepare and process payment runs for suppliers and service providers.
  • Monitor outstanding balances and follow up on overdue payments.
  • Liaise with internal departments, freight agents, airlines, and external vendors regarding account queries.
  • Ensure compliance with company financial procedures and aviation industry regulations.
  • Prepare financial reports and administrative documentation for management review.
  • Handle confidential financial information with professionalism and discretion.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
  • GCSEs or equivalent in Maths and English (Grade C or above).
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-moving environment.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritise workload effectively.
  • Team-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • High level of integrity and confidentiality.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience within logistics, freight, aviation, or cargo operations is desirable.
  • Knowledge of airline cargo operations and freight documentation.
  • Previous experience in an accounts administration, finance assistant, or bookkeeping role.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software such as Sage, Xero, SAP, or QuickBooks.

Work Time: Hours negotiable - part-time optional, to be confirmed.
