Job description
We are seeking an Accounts Administrator to support the financial administration of a fast-paced Ground Handling and Cargo Operations company. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing invoices, reconciling accounts, and assisting with day-to-day accounting activities related to cargo operations, freight billing, and supplier management.
Responsibilities
- Process purchase invoices, sales invoices, and credit notes accurately and on time.
- Maintain accounts payable and accounts receivable records.
- Reconcile bank statements, supplier accounts, and customer accounts.
- Assist with cargo billing, freight charges, customs-related documentation, and payment tracking.
- Prepare and process payment runs for suppliers and service providers.
- Monitor outstanding balances and follow up on overdue payments.
- Liaise with internal departments, freight agents, airlines, and external vendors regarding account queries.
- Ensure compliance with company financial procedures and aviation industry regulations.
- Prepare financial reports and administrative documentation for management review.
- Handle confidential financial information with professionalism and discretion.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
- GCSEs or equivalent in Maths and English (Grade C or above).
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-moving environment.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritise workload effectively.
- Team-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- High level of integrity and confidentiality.
Desirable Skills
- Experience within logistics, freight, aviation, or cargo operations is desirable.
- Knowledge of airline cargo operations and freight documentation.
- Previous experience in an accounts administration, finance assistant, or bookkeeping role.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software such as Sage, Xero, SAP, or QuickBooks.
