Job description
The NICS comprises nine departments that support the Northern Ireland Executive and Ministers. We do this by developing and implementing government policies and legislation and delivering key public services in areas such as health, public finances, social development, justice, education, regeneration, environment, culture, agriculture, economic development, employment and transport. In addition, the Public Prosecution Service is a non Ministerial Department staffed by civil servants. All civil servants are appointed on merit and on the basis of fair and open competition. The NICS is seeking to fill an Industrial 2 -Tradesperson Painter Decorative Finisher role that requires specific skills and experience. Responsibilities
- To be capable of producing range of protective finishes to a high standard and fulfil range of duties as expected for a time served painter/decorator tradesperson.
- Preparing surfaces before painting. Conservation and restoration of various objects. Assisting with condition reports of historic paintwork. Preparing, sizing and gilding of objects.
- Application of paint effects such as marbling and woodgraining. Creating moulds and recreating missing decorative elements.
- When required, assisting scaffolder with erecting, alterations to working platform and dismantling and scaffold removal. Scaffolding training may also be provided.
- Loading and unloading materials for transport to and from site. Completing required documentation as requested. Carrying out general labour duties. Attending training as required.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Applicants must have, by the closing date for applications: A relevant NVQ Level 2 and/or City & Guilds in Decorative Finishing and Industrial Painting Occupations.
- AND: At least 3 years' post-apprenticeship experience in conservation painting or decorative finishing.
