Facilities Attendant
Job description
The postholder will provide day-to-day specified facility cleaning duties in accordance with standard operating procedures and health and safety obligations.
Responsibilities
- 1. Open, close and restrict access to public conveniences and physically check switches, lights and hand dryers before closing the premises and ensure that they have been vacated.
- 2. Daily cleaning, washing, sweeping, mopping, clearing any blockages of sinks and urinals/toilet bowls, emptying litter bins, polishing and dusting designated areas, fixtures and fittings, using where appropriate, the necessary equipment, (including
- working at heights) to ensure that the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene are achieved and maintained throughout the facility.
- 3. Ensure the safe storage, application and removal of all cleaning materials/substances in accordance with standard operating procedures and health and safety obligations.
- 4. Log and report all accidents and/or spillages and identify potential hazards ensuring appropriate remedial action is taken in line with standard operating and reporting procedures.
- 5. Complete cleaning, preventative legionella flushing records and other documentation as required.
- 6. Ensure the perimeter of the public convenience is kept free from litter etc.
- 7. Ensure all equipment and supplies used in connection with the premises are kept replenished and used appropriately.
- 8. Action evacuation procedures in the event of an emergency in accordance with procedures.
- 9. Ensure operational areas are secure in accordance with specified procedures, including undertaking internal/external security checks, as required.
- 10. Report general/minor maintenance defects or lost property to the Principal Environmental Health Officer or other responsible person.
- 11. Check and switch on/off control switches including heating, lighting etc.
- 12. Conduct all duties in a way as to enhance and protect the reputation and public profile of the Council and participate in training as required.
- 13. Participate in and ensure compliance with all Council policies and procedures and operate within the highest standards of personal behaviour which reflect the core values of the organisation.
- 14. Ensure full compliance with Health and Safety requirements and legislation in accordance with Council’s Policies and Procedures.
- 15. Comply with and actively promote the Council’s policies and procedures on all aspects of equality.
- 16. Undertake any other duties appropriate to scale, which may be required from time to time.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Applicants must possess: A minimum of one years cleaning experience. Experience must include: - Dealing with members of the public.
- It is essential that applicants possess: Knowledge and application of Health and Safety within a public building. Knowledge and understanding of COSHH regulations.
- Must have access to a form of transport to carry out the duties of the post
Desirable Skills
- A minimum of one years’ cleaning experience within a public building. A Current IOSH Working Safely Qualification (or equivalent) or willing to work towards this A current recognised COSHH qualification.
- A current recognised manual handling qualification
