Youth Facilitator- Western Trust Area. Inspire is proud to partner on the Peace of Mind project - a cross-community, cross-border initiative funded by the PEACEPLUS Programme, managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB). If so, you could be the Youth Facilitator we’re looking for to join Inspire’s Peace of Mind team. Vacancy Details: Location: Western Trust Area. Hours: 37 Contract: Fixed term temporary until March 2028. About the Role As a Youth Facilitator, you will be responsible for delivering the Peace of Mind group programme in the western trust area, working with young people from diverse backgrounds across Northern Ireland. This project takes an early intervention and prevention approach to support young people’s mental health, wellbeing and personal development. You’ll work in community settings, facilitating structured youth sessions, building positive relationships, and creating inclusive spaces where young people feel seen, safe, and supported. You’ll also help co-design workshops, events and social action projects that explore identity, culture, and shared community experience, all rooted in the context of Northern Ireland’s post-conflict legacy.

Responsibilities

  • Support young people in developing resilience, confidence, and emotional well-being through structured group activities.
  • Foster a welcoming, supportive, and inclusive environment for young people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Lead dynamic, engaging sessions that support young people’s personal and social development.
  • Engage and recruit young people, ensuring their voices shape the planning and delivery of activities.
  • Work collaboratively as part of the Operational Partnership Group to ensure high-quality program delivery.
  • Facilitate the delivery of the Peace of Mind project across multiple locations in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Possess a full current driving licence and access to a car. Business Insurance is a requirement for this post. Consideration will be given to alternative travelling options for applicants who are disabled.
  • To work flexibly as the job will require some evening/weekend working
  • Educated to NVQ level 3 or equivalent and Minimum 6 months experience in services for children, young people, families or other minority group, and The post-holder must be either registered, or apply for registration, with NISCC upon appointment.
  • Strong leadership and facilitation skills, with the ability to motivate and engage young people while translating innovative approaches into effective youth engagement activities.
  • Good understanding of the youth and community sector, including the challenges faced by young people and the services that support them, helping them to access services and to develop support plans that meet their needs.
  • Experience working with funders and grant-supported programs, with an understanding of how funding impacts service delivery and the ability to work within budget guidelines.
  • Awareness of trauma, lived experience, deprivation, and their impact on young people in Northern Ireland and border counties. Ability to manage conflict resolution, respond to challenging behaviors, and support young people facing high levels of risk
  • Strong understanding of early intervention and prevention approaches to mental health, with knowledge of relevant research with experience in co-producing services with young people to ensure programs are responsive, inclusive, and meet their needs.
  • Experience using IT packages and systems including Microsoft Office.
