Complex Needs Child Carer


Job description

We are currently seeking to recruit a staff member to join our in- house team working in a family home. This is to help with the 24 hour care of a complex needs child. Applicants must have previous experience working in complex needs care ideally in a community or hospital or hospice setting and Access NI Clearance will be required and we ask you also have a checkable employment history. Good numeracy and written skills, are required to update medical records and good team working to communicate with nurses and care package team. We would ask potential applicants have access to a vehicle, as there may be some travel required for drop offs and pick ups and collection of pharmacy supplies. Due to the high level of medical requirements for this care, there is a paid training period before the role would commence and we would ask all potential applicants would have availability for this. The role will be for day or nightshifts and availability will be checked on a weekly bases for our roster and can range from 4 hour shift covers to 12 hour shifts through week day and weekend ( dependent on your availability). We are flexible with all our staff and can chat around availability that may suit around family commitments or other roles, especially if you are interested in this position as a second job.

Responsibilities

  • Working 121 with a Complex needs child
  • Assisting with the Care and Medical support needed for the child
  • To help provide respite to support the parent to keep the child at home
  • To engage in play and fun learning for the child
  • To help accompany the family to travel
  • Helping with ordering of weekly stock and ensuring it stored correctly and collection of supplies

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Must be a Trustworthy reliable individual who has previous experience working with children in a care environment and have a checkable employment history and happy to have security clearance checks completed.
  • Is available to complete training with Nursing Teams
  • Has Good Numeracy and Writing Skills to complete medical records and good team working to pass on essential medical updates and work with local nursing team
  • Must have Driving Licence
  • Able to work over holiday periods and weekends when required
