As an Assembly Operative you will be responsible for building high quality products to specification based on drawings and instructions.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate good safety behaviours in the workplace; ensure all rules / standards and procedures are adhered to at all times; wear correct personal protective equipment.
- Building products on the assembly line according to drawings, instructions, or schematics.
- Interpreting engineering drawings and work instructions.
- Using variety of hand tools to assemble large and small metal components as required.
- 100 % completion of quality checks throughout build process; ensure builds are fully assembled, to specification, and to a high-quality standard.
- Report any faults or defects to the cell leader timely.
- Loading product pieces for assembly onto the line.
- Reporting incidents, faulty operations, or product imperfections on the assembly line to management.
- Safeguarding and controlling of materials, parts, subassemblies and commercial goods during preparation and completion of assembly activities.
- Ensure optimisation of materials within the build to minimise and control wastage.
- Work to agreed output targets and deadlines, ensuring internal customer orders are produced 'on time and in full' to required quality standard.
- Working as part of a team to develop continuous improvement ideas.
- To perform the job in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures.
- To perform any other duties as may be reasonably required to ensure successful delivery of all ongoing works within the company workstream.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Recent experience using a variety of hand/power/air tools.
- Basic knowledge of materials particularly aluminium and steel.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety.
- Proven ability to work as part of a team.
- Willing to undertake training as required.
- Willing to work overtime if required.
- Ability to carry out manual or active work, safely and efficiently.
Desirable Skills
- Experience in a high volume, fast paced manufacturing / industrial environment.
- Solid understanding of production machinery and proper assembly procedures.
- Previous experience in conveyor assembly.
- Experience in mechanical fitting.
