Job description

Scoil na Fuiseoige is looking for a person who is enthusiastic, hard working, has experience of working with young children and a high level of interpersonal skills and an ability to learn.

Responsibilities

• To promote a high quality Irish language environment for the children in our care.
• Provide a safe and nurturing environment for children in your care.
• Prepare meals and snacks for children, ensuring they meet dietary requirements.
• Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child's progress and any concerns.
• Plan and implement age-appropriate activities and educational programs.
• Supervise and engage children in play, both indoors and outdoors.
• Assist with personal hygiene tasks, such as diapering, toileting, and handwashing.
• Maintain a clean and organised childcare environment.
• Follow all health and safety guidelines and regulations.
• To promote the Irish Language and inclusive ethos of Scoil na Fuiseoige.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a Childcare related area, or willingness to work towards it, as training is provided.
• An understanding of maintaining and working with confidential information.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels from children, parents and other professionals.
• Meet the physical requirements of the post in terms of lifting children and moving and lifting and equipment as required for service delivery.
• A commitment to the ethos of Scoil na Fuiseoige and genuine commitment to working with children to provide a caring and professional service.

Desirable Skills

• A minimum of 1 year in a childcare delivery capacity.
• Knowledge and experience of safeguarding within an early years setting.
• A good working knowledge of oral and written Irish.
