Senior Systems Software Developer


Job description

The College is seeking applications for a Permanent Full-Time Senior Systems Development Officer to be based in our Strand Road Campus. The post holder will contribute to the provision of a support service to staff by assisting in the development of new software systems for use by College staff.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and recommend areas where software applications could be used to benefit the dissemination of information throughout the College
  • Lead the systems analysis, design and development elements of propose new software applications as identified above
  • Lead the development cycle of new software applications, developed using SQL and .NET platforms, ensuring the most efficient and effective coding structures are used by all members of online services staff involved
  • Lead some of the technical development of a College dash-boarding strategy, covering information from all College procured and developed data sources
  • Provide advice on the possible uses and limitations of new databases, programming techniques, software applications and development methodologies
  • Develop software validation applications to ensure that all statutory data returns are dynamically validated and financial claw backs minimised and investigate, develop and implement software to improve the efficiency and accuracy of data entry
  • Ensure that all databases are correctly configured and structured, to ensure maximum efficiency, security and integrity
  • Provide guidance and training to Online Services team, and where appropriate other teams, on the operation of data validation for College developed systems

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Have at least a Level 6 qualification in the area of Computing
  • Have 3 years’ employment experience in design of software systems, with knowledge of full development life cycle using an Objected Oriented programming language, for example C# or VB

Desirable Skills

  • Have experience in developing app specifically for use on mobile devices
  • Have experience in developing content for immersive environments, using development tools such as Unity or similar
