Job description
The Clanrye Group is a community organisation providing help and support to people who want to make positive life changes. The Clanrye Group is a leading provider of high-quality programmes and services for people with a diverse range of needs and barriers and furthest removed from the labour market. A range of ‘Employability’ and ‘Community Development’ programmes are available and delivered utilising an individualised tailored wraparound approach to include health and wellbeing initiatives, training and skills development, accredited qualifications and employability support. Disability Support Services provides a specialised support for young people (aged 16-24) on the Skills for Life and Work and Apprenticeship NI Programmes across Northern Ireland. We are seeking staff to provide specialist disability support to young people who require assistance whilst participating on the Skills for Life and Work and/or Apprenticeships NI Programme. This role also requires staff to undertake administrative duties to ensure their records of support are accurate, completed and returned timely.
Responsibilities
- Organise work placements and support participants in the work placement process.
- Adhere to Clanrye group's "Code of Conduct" maintaining confidentiality and professionalism across all work practices and interaction.
- Ensure all safeguarding procedures are followed.
- Demonstrate commitment to the completion of tasks.
- Assist the DSS Co-ordinator with the monitoring and evidencing of progress against Performance Targets set.
- Organise and attend placement visits to monitor the progress of participants and deal effectively with any issues/concerns that arise.
- Provide mentoring support to participants as and when required.
- Familiarity with the industries and placement areas in, Administration, Bricklaying, Catering, Childcare, Hairdressing, IT, Joinery, Play Work, and Retail. This knowledge may help in providing more tailored support to participants seeking placements.
- Prepare participants for their first day on placement to ensure they know what is expected of them and what they can do to make the right start.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Able to manage workload, work independently or in a team and support participants.
- Strong ICT skills (MS Office), administration and communication experience.
- Follow safeguarding, equality and data protection.
Desirable Skills
- Experienced in supporting people with disabilities in education and employment settings.
- Understand barriers faced by individuals with learning disabilities.
