Specialist Support Worker (Wellbeing)


Job description

As part of a team, you will provide on-site wellbeing support to those experiencing homelessness, many of whom have been impacted by trauma, abuse, or complex life challenges. You will provide assistance to those we support with their mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing, helping them to build confidence, resilience, and independence through the delivery of therapeutic wellbeing activities. Responsibilities

  • Build trusting relationships with the people we support, ensuring a safe, supportive, and empowering environment.
  • Provide support with mental health, self-care, emotional wellbeing, substance use, and independent living skills.
  • Develop and deliver a range of wellbeing activities, both one-to-one and group based, to help build self-esteem, develop coping skills, and improve overall wellbeing.
  • Provide individual sessions focused on self-care, confidence-building, goal setting, and emotional regulation.
  • Organise and facilitate regular group activities that promote social connection, emotional resilience, and overall wellbeing.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • A minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent), including English and Maths.
  • At least 2 years’ experience supporting those with complex needs including homelessness, trauma, mental health, or substance use.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practice and its application in frontline support.
  • Experience delivering wellbeing activities or therapeutic interventions in a group or one-to-one setting.
  • Access to a car or suitable transport to meet the requirements of the role, including off-site activities and multi-location working.

Desirable Skills

  • A recognised qualification in wellbeing, mental health, holistic therapy, or a related field.
