Driver (Caring Duties)


Job description

An opportunity has arisen to join the public sector as a Driver with Caring duties within Southern Health & Social Care Trust.

Responsibilities

  • Daily collection and conveyance of Trust clients and/or officers as allocated.
  • Collecting and conveying staff and clients for social and educational outings and during holiday trips.
  • Where necessary assist clients, including those using wheelchairs or walking aids, etc in any manner possible with regard to their needs e.g. preparation for transit to (and on return home) centres and functions, doing up laces, switching off lights
  • Providing, where required, personal assistance and immediate first aid to clients/patients and ensuring privacy, dignity and rights of clients.
  • Collect and deliver food supplies and materials including beds, furniture, laundry.
  • Carry out daily routine maintenance of your vehicle and minor running repairs.
  • Wash the vehicle as and when necessary and ensure the interior is kept clean and tidy.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • A minimum of 6 months experience driving vehicles with more than 16 seats..
  • Hold a full current UK driving licence with a full PCV Category D with no restrictions.
  • Hold a current and valid Driver's CPC card.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Understanding of confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated ability to accept responsibility, to use initiative, and to be accountable.
  • Have an understanding of the care needs of those with a physical / learning disability and older people.
  • Successful completion of Trust Driving Test.
  • As part of the reference checking and vetting process for this position you will be requested to undertake an Enhanced AccessNI Disclosure. Having a criminal record will not necessarily be a bar to obtaining a position.

Further Information

Full-time with participation in an on-call rota where required. About the role: £12.75 per hour. 37.5 hours per week, full-time with participation in an on-call rota where required. Locations - Armagh, Craigavon, Newry. Temporary for 6 months. Public Sector.
