Purchasing Co-Ordinator


Job description

This hands-on role ensures smooth operations through accurate material handling, system management, and production documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Procure steel and plate materials; assist with plasma nesting.
  • Prepare fabrication packs, loading dockets, delivery paperwork, and project handover documents.
  • Set up and maintain Powerfab tablets; support workshop staff with iPad queries.
  • Assign cast numbers and certificates; ensure traceability of steel and plates for CE marking.
  • Maintain delivery trackers; liaise with suppliers for incoming materials.
  • Organise galvanising and other external processing.
  • Generate and manage picking lists; reconcile stock with floor inventory.
  • Set up and maintain project folders, directories, and purchase orders.
  • Scan and file delivery and loading documents, certs, and welding wire records.
  • Support job costing, payroll data collation, and quotation preparation.
  • Handle incoming calls and administrative queries.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Previous experience in a steel fabrication or engineering environment.
  • Proficiency in nesting software (e.g., SigmaNEST, Lantek, ProNest - or similar).
  • Strong understanding of technical drawings and fabrication processes.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines with strong attention to detail.
