Information Governance Officer

Mid & East Antrim Borough Council is seeking to appoint an Information Governance Officer to join its Ballymena based team. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and detail focused professional to play a key role in supporting information governance, data protection and compliance across the organisation. The Information Governance Officers play a key role within the Corporate & Support Services Directorate, delivering on the Council's Information Governance Framework by supporting the delivery of corporate functions and ensuring organisational compliance with statutory and policy requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and track project plans, outlining steps and tasks to be undertaken leading to the successful delivery of new processes and arrangements. Report progress on project plans on a regular basis to management.
  • Prepare correspondence, reports, management information and co-ordinate, and log responses ensuring input from senior officers and elected members.
  • Provide support, training and advice to managers and staff supporting business processes and administration.
  • Research and promote best practice and assist with any council policy work as required.
  • To develop and work to agreed plans, collect data and provide analysis and draft progress reports.
  • Undertake research and prepare reports on a range of issues to update the leadership team, SMT and Elected Members.
  • Keep up to date with legislation, guidance and best practice.
  • Develop, implement, monitor and review processes and policies that will ensure drive continuous improvement and ensure Council meets its regulatory and statutory duties, advising and guiding senior management and officers on same.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • A Degree in any discipline.
  • 2 years experience in the following areas (4 years if you do not hold a Degree):
  • Providing advice and guidance to management on the application of policies/procedures/legislation.
  • Dealing with a range of internal and external contacts and stakeholders demonstrating success in achieving organisational objectives.
  • Preparing reports and/or correspondence.
  • A full current UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, or access to a form of transport that enables you to carry out the duties of the post (this applies only to applicants who have a disability under the Disability Discrimination Act)

Further Information

About the role: £20.66 per hour. Location: Ballymena. Monday to Friday. 37 hours a week. Temporary for 6 months. Closing date: Friday 12th June 2026 at 10 am.
